Trent Reznor talking to Kevin Rose on an episode of Digg Dialogg

===

If Kevin does more of these, he can take Digg mainstream, or he can just end up being Charlie Rose 2.0. Eitherway, I’m a fan.

Advice for aspiring bands (and entreprenuers):

“Identify what it is you’re trying to do - how do you see yourself? … If you are trying to change the world and you play music because that’s your life and it’s the soundtrack to your life and what you say is unique and innovative and you don’t sound like what’s on the radio and you have nothing in common with American Idol and you don’t want to be the Pussy Cat Dolls, then you certainly don’t want to be on a major record label, because all they want is to make money. They’re not interested in you as an artist, they’re interested in you as a means to make revenue… [Aren’t most VCs the same breed?]

Hone your craft first and foremost. Make the best, coolest thing you can, and present it in a way that exploits it the best… “

I’m not sure why it took me this long to truly respect Kevin Rose. What an empire he’s built around the things he’s passionate about in the world. #respect
